9 A: l7 F# x* P: G' t, M- w' c/ BDiagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
Operating machinery in a safe and effective manner
' P0 Y/ L0 x& J: a- SProviding daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts
Assembling and starting engines
$ T0 Q. v, I/ M" N1 T9 }4 Q: pDiagnosing locomotive component malfunctions
Preparing inspection, work and maintenance reports
Performing other functions as assigned

Good eye-hand coordination
Frequently lifting weights up to 50 pounds

Physical work, sometimes outdoors in extreme weather conditions
( a/ l8 p/ \5 fRegular exposure to dust, pollen, fumes, noise and vibrations

Basic technical knowledge of diesel

9 W/ j0 v1 Y, B% U) [- w+ WMay need current, valid drivers license, CDL, and locomotive engineer certification
Visual acuity and hearing threshold tests are required for this position. Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.
