How do you all think of an English Competition?

I haven't been on line for a week. It was really depressing. I can see our English Saloon is getting prosperous now!

6 x; R0 B+ R7 s( c8 NI have been thinking whether we should hold a competition of English Composition? If we want to study English, the most important thing is to use it. Now matter how much we are trying to memorize or how many study tips we are learning, we can’t gain as much as when we actually use it as much as possible. I even thought about some subjects for us to talk about if some of us are interested.

Any thoughts on that? Connie, what do you think? Just a thought, no hard feelings.

I agree on your proposal very much, and I think We badly need to improve our Writen English as well as spoken English as quick as possible.

I can give out my homework every week as a topic, if you like. This week, the teacher asked us to write two paragraphs about the thought to the Remembrance day. my compostion lists as followed:

3 s/ U) q7 W( I! q       When I think about the Remembrance Day, the first thing coming to my mind is the poppy. Around the same day last year, I saw many people wearing small red flowers everywhere in the city. They looked so graceful, and remarkable red flowers intrigued me. What were they? Why were people wearing them? Just like the scene in the poem that we studied in the class last week, I asked a lady on the bus, “What is this flower?” The lady smiled, “This is the poppy.” And then she told me the history of the Remembrance Day. I fell into a deep meditation.
" z  [) `( m/ }: b! V9 [" U7 J6 S( ^' a        Many people gave their lives as sacrifices for our present lives in peace. They were fathers, husbands, brothers, or sons. Although we don’t know their names, we should wear a poppy for them and pray that they have peaceful lives in heaven, without bombs, barbed wires, and screams.
' x0 z. v! }& p, E) S* W6 b. P        I have watched some movies related wars. The bloody scenes shocked me. I couldn’t help asking myself, “Why do we fight each other?” Was it because of nation conflicts, the greed of minority, or our fatuities? In fact we are not completely in peace now. In Iraq, Palestine, and Africa, bullets are whizzing, and cities are in flames. Everyday some people die, and some day, can we see some people wearing poppies or something else for them?
        For the coming Remembrance Day, please wear a poppy for those who died in wars, and pray for the forever peace befalling on our distressful planet.

Please correct me, if you like. It would be very nice for me.

we are not completely in peace now= we are not completely peaceful at present
. X8 ~' d8 t2 V9 i# _4 Y2 [7 YIn my opinion,it's better if  this sentence is written in this way:  we are not completely at peace now.
+ M5 v# R& L9 H: M1 `+ x' R
" }( m5 W5 s5 a/ U2 CBecause "at peace"  is the right phrase to express 处于和平时期
