Police investigate after 2 men shot in face

EDMONTON – Two men are in hospital Thursday morning after they were shot in the face, and police are investigating whether it was gang related.

; v, j$ o- q- q; T4 q; XPolice say officers were called after one man, who had been shot in the face, ran into a downtown convenience store for help.

The second man, who had also been shot in the face, tried to drive away, but didn't make it past 107th Avenue and 101st Street.

1 S, v9 G3 \8 Z, lPolice spokesman Andy Weiler said they don't have a lot of details about the shooting.

3 X- Q7 c) E+ L. z0 A$ |"A weapon has not been seized in relation to the shooting," he said. "Investigators still don't know if there was one person or two who did the shooting, was there more than one weapon involved?

$ p' S9 _4 q4 U/ N( Q"At first it was believed that maybe it was a shotgun. But we're still looking through the evidence in the vehicle to try and determine what calibre firearm was used.

Police say one of the injured men has gang ties, but they aren't sure whether the shooting was gang related.

Police say the men's injuries are serious, but not life threatening.
