The Corporate Controller's group in Calgary has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Senior Advisor, Accounting Research.

Responsible for providing meaningful, credible and timely accounting research in support of all highly technical matters, specifically risk management activities, potential restructurings, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, complex transactions and agreements. This position requires technical accounting expertise in Risk Management activities such as hedge accounting and financial instrument accounting, US GAAP, mergers and acquisitions. This position will make recommendations with respect to transaction and contract structuring and risk management activities based on accounting implications.
Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the Risk Management activities across Canadian operations, including determining when and how hedge accounting can be applied and advising the Risk Management team of the accounting implications of different hedging strategies.

Manage and support technical accounting issues within the Energy Services businesses (Tidals and Gas Services).

Monitor CGAAP, IFRS and the FASB for publication of new and revised accounting standards and interpretations to ensure that changes in standards and interpretations are appropriately applied to the Company's consolidated financial statements.

Manage and complete IFRS projects assigned by the IFRS Implementation team.

Completion of special projects identified by the Manager of Accounting Research.

Assist the Manager of Financial Reporting in the preparation of external information related to risk management activities and financial instruments for Enbridge Inc., Enbridge Pipelines Inc. and Enbridge Income Fund. Also, where necessary, assist with review of analysis and reporting of the annual and interim external financial statements and Management's Discussion and Analysis for Enbridge Inc. and Enbridge Pipelines Inc. provided to senior management, the Board of Directors, securities regulators, securities analysts and investors.

Assist on the accounting approach and support for major transactions, such as acquisitions and disposals, restructurings as well as business development projects, and manage the disclosure.

Review and confirm financial information and the application of Canadian GAAP, U.S. GAAP and IFRS to financial information included in Board memos, as required.

Assist with training Enbridge staff within other areas/departments/business units on complex accounting issues and changes, as required

Assist with due diligence requirements related to financial information in debt and equity prospectuses.

Assist with the accounting analysis of complex financing initiatives.

An enterprise wide resource/expert on technical accounting matters.
